When I first started collecting makeup brushes, I would just put them in a jar and leave them sitting out. I noticed that they would get so dusty especially ones that I don't use every day. I spend a lot of time washing my makeup brushes so the last thing I want is for them to get dusty before I even use them. I dont know, but the idea of using a brush full of dust on my face just doesn't sit well with me so this is what I came up with.
I love the fact that this isn't just a brush holder but it also serves as a beautiful decorative piece for my counter. I got these at TJMaxx for $9.99 each but if you don't have any of the discount stores by you, you can also find jars similar to this one at your local craft store. I know Joanns and Michaels have them and they are about $25-$30 but you can use a 40 or 50% off coupon to make them more affordable.
There is also a jar that you can get at Walmart (Houseware section) for $7.44 which I think is a good alternative. Here is what it looks like.
Now for those of you who have a smaller brush colletion, here is another idea.
This case came with a microdermabrasion kit I had bought so I can't really tell you exactly where to get one but I'm sure you can find something similar to this somewhere.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Pls. feel free to leave a comment or ask questions. Thanks!
I LIKE! You're make up brushes and makeup looks so organized and clean.
ReplyDeletewhere did you get the clear acrylic drawers?

ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the acrylic drawers?
ReplyDeleteHey Amanda! Sorry for the super late reply. Anyway, the acrylic drawer is from amazon. It is actually a jewelry drawer.
DeleteThis is FABULOUS! I am going to do this for my brushes...I have been looking for a way to display them!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you liked it. Let me know how yours turns out.
DeleteI think I did OK! Follow my blog and I will do the same?

You did an awesome job on the brush holder. Thanks so much for mentioning my blog on your post. I really appreciate it. oh and I will definitely be following your blog.
DeleteI have cases similar to yours but unfortunately not tall enough. For now my brushes are in a foldaway cosmetic bag as I rarely put on makeup but loving this post <3 :D now I'm going on the hut for big jars (probably in TKMaxx for me but fingers cross)!! Thanks again :D

DeleteOh wow I love this!! I have seen similar ones and I am going to get them, that;s so innovative! x

DeleteWhat's the white stuff inside the jars?
ReplyDeleteThey are just fillers I found in the floral department at Michaels. Here is a link to a similar one at Joann although I think it was cheaper at Michaels. I also used a 40% off coupon so the price wasnt that bad.

DeleteWhere are the acrylic drawers from? They look like the Muji drawers..but better!
ReplyDeleteMy husband got the drawers from Amazon. It is a bit pricier than the Muji ones but I really like it. It's actually a jewelry box if you look at the pictures on the site they also used it for makeup.

Super cute idea for the brushes & make up but I also noticed the nail polish on the wall & what looked to be an acrylic holder for that. Is that also a purchase from Michael's or is that a specialty item? Thanks so much for sharing your ideas!
ReplyDeleteI got the nail polish rack from one of those small nail/beauty supply stores (not sallys). I know of three stores here in AZ and I noticed that all of them are by the big asian grocery stores. The price ranges from $25 to $35. There is also a smaller rack but I'm not sure how much. I hope this helps and Thanks for visiting my blog.
DeleteGreat idea! not only practical, it looks super cute too! :)
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteI love this idea! I need this, it is soo organized!
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteI love this idea! I'm in Arizona too (North Phoenix) where are these beauty stores you mentioned that have the nail polish racks? I have been to so many salon supply stores but I can't purchase without a beauty license.
ReplyDeleteI bought one at the nail supply store inside Mekong plaza in Mesa and the other one was at a supply store beside Leelees in Chandler. They were both asian owned. I have been to a few of these stores and I have never been asked for a license.
DeleteI am wondering if the glasses are too tall for the brushes??? Do you find it hard to get them out, or is it easy? It was a bit tough to tell by the picture if it was easy to take them out or not.
ReplyDeleteI really dont find it hard to get the brushes. You can always add more fillers so that the brushes are at the very top.
DeleteThis is brilliant and so innovative!!! Thank you!!!!!!! I'm sick of digging through a basket or bag to find my brushes EVERY morning. Definitely going to do this!!
ReplyDeleteje la difficulté a trouver les trois a bijoux en acrylique ..pourriez vous nous donner le links pour l acheter sur Amazone. S.V.P. merci.
ReplyDeleteI love the case idea. I think it would be easier to grab the brushes then the jars. the jars are beautiful though. Natalie

Im so excited to do this! I can't wait to got to my local Tjmaxx. Hopefully I find some for good prices. Love your set-up. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Good luck on your search!!
DeleteWhat brushes do you have in these jars... I'm looking for a new brush set myself and yours look nice
ReplyDeleteThe brushes are all different but my favorite are the sigma ones www.sigma.com . They can be a bit pricey though so if you have a limited budget then I highly recommend the brushes by real techniques. You can get them at Ulta. They are reasonably priced and are just as good as the sigma ones.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteThis post of yours is so interesting. All these pieces are just beautiful. My absolute favorites are the shoe closets. Both are really amazing and I would certainly love to have one at home. Thank you for sharing. By the way, your son looks so adorable!
