GET IT OR FORGET IT: Silk'n SensEpil Hair Removal System Review

This is without a doubt a "GET IT" product for me.  I love that I don't have to deal with shaving my underarms anymore which I had to do almost everyday. I had dark, thick hair that grew so fast that I would shave in the morning and already have growth that same night. Now, while  I still have a little bit of growth, it is nowhere near what I had before and I can easily just pluck whats left. I started to notice a difference by the 4th or 5th time I used it. One thing I learned though is that you do need to be consistent and not miss a session for it to be effective. I also have to point out that it does say on the box that it can't be used on naturally dark skin nor will it work on light hair.  I purchased this item for $199 on their website https://www.silkn.com/.  Right now, til 8am on Mon 3/30, Hautelook has it for a better price. The same one I got that included 1500 flashes is $159 and they also have the one with 65000 flashes/lifetime package for $259 http://www.hautelook.com/invite/MFooshee605.  I wish I would have gotten the one with the lifetime package so I wouldnt have to buy another cartridge since I plan to use it on other parts of my body but unfortunately it wasn't available at the time. Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope you found this review helpful!

GET IT or FORGET IT - Skin Care

Today I'll be focusing on skin care products. Here is the list of items I will be reviewing:
-Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask
-Simple Light Moisturizer
-Simple Exfoliating Facial Wipes
-Dickinsons Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner

Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask  -  ARP $4.00

I have really been liking this product so I say GET IT! I used to use the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask but I like this one better.

Simple Light Moisturizer - ARP $10.00

Don't even bother with this product. I can't believe this was made for people with sensitive skin. After I applied this moisturizer, it immediately felt like my whole face was on fire...and to think that I don't even have sensitive skin. This is definitely on top of my FORGET IT list.

Simple Exfoliating Facial - ARP $5.00

This is not a bad product but it's not great either. I actually prefer the Ponds makeup wipes over these. Maybe if it was a dollar or two I would repurchase it, but otherwise I would just FORGET IT!

Dickinsons Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner - ARP $5.00

I really thought this was going to be an awesome product especially because it was recommended by Dr. Oz but this turned out to be just ok. I've used up almost half of this bottle and yet it seems like it hasn't done anything for my skin so for me I'm going to have to say FORGET IT!

GET IT or FORGET IT - Product Reviews

GET IT or FORGET IT is a segment that I decided to create for my blog where I will be doing quick reviews on a bunch of products at one time. Instead of posting long reviews on each product which I know a lot of people don't have time to read, I will just tell you if the product worked for me or not and why in the shortest way possible. Ok, so let's get on with it...

For todays GET IT or FORGET IT I'll be reviewing these products:
-Maybelline Megaplush Volum Express Mascara
-Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Gel Cream Eyeliner
-Almay One Coat Get Up and Grow Mascara
-Loreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara
-Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

MAYBELLINE MEGAPLUSH VOLUM EXPRESS MASCARA - Waterproof

Don't waste your time on this one....just FORGET IT! I don't get why they made the wand flexible. It just made it so much harder to apply since you had no control over the wand and the worst thing about this mascara...RACOON EYES! Need I say more?!

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SHIMMER STRIPS GEL EYELINER - Brown Eyes

This one is a GET IT product for me. It was very easy to apply and the lasting power is amazing. I also love that you get three colors. The one for brown eyes comes with black, brown and purple. I guess its off to the store to get the other colors.

ALMAY ONE COAT GET UP AND GROW MASCARA - Waterproof

Both the brush and formula are ok but there was nothing extraordinary about this mascara in my opinion so in my book this is more of a FORGET IT product although there is that possibility that this might work for someone else.

LOREAL VOLUMINOUS FALSE FIBER LASHES MASCARA - Waterproof

I like this mascara so it's a GET IT. I really liked the regular voluminous mascara except that it was a little runny when you first opened it. The good news is, this one isnt. The formula is just right and it does make my lashes look thicker and longer.

REVLON JUST BITTEN KISSABLE BALM STAIN - Smitten & Honey

This is definitely a GET IT product. Out of all the lip stains I've tried, this is the only one that doesn't leave my lips chapped. This goes on smoothly, leaves just the right amount of color and lasts a long time.

Thanks for stopping by and pls feel free to ask questions or leave comments.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA Mineral Wear Airbrushing Kabuki Brush Review

I never thought I would find a brush that could compare to my Sigma F80 flat top until I tried the Physicians Formula Kabuki Brush. This was truly love at first swipe.  According to the packaging, it's the "Softest Brush Ever" and I totally agree. Its flat shape and ultra dense bristles is perfect for buffing your foundation for a beautiful airbrushed finish. I myself prefer to use cream or liquid foundation and this has worked very well in smoothing it out. The density and feel of this brush is pretty much the same as that of the sigma F80 so there is only one thing that makes this brush stand out more (especially for a bargain shopper like me)  and yup, it's the PRICE. This brush retails for about $10-$11 but if you have a ROSS in your area then you might even be able to get it for $3.49. Now if you can't get to a ROSS store or have no luck finding one, here is a deal idea that you can do at Ulta.

Physicians Formula is buy 1 get 1 50%off online so hopefully it's also on sale at the store.
Buy 1 brush for $10.99
get another 1 for $5.49
Total = $15.49
Use $3.50 off coupon from www.ulta.com
Grand Total = $11.99 or $5.99 each

If it's not on sale at the store and you don't want to wait then you could still get a brush for $10.99 and use the $3.50 off coupon making it $7.49 which is still an awesome price.

So what are you waiting for? GO....RUN...NOW!!!

URBAN DECAY NAIL & SHADOW KITS - Review and Swatches

It looks like Urban Decay will be having a big sale some time soon (details have not been released yet) so I thought of doing a quick review on two of their items that I have been recently loving. The first one is their Holiday Nail Kit that was given to me by my awesome cousin Kathrine.
This set includes 6 mini bottles of really cool shades of nail polish. It's on sale on their site for $19.00 (reg. $28) and might even be cheaper with the upcoming sale. I love all the colors and I do think that the size of the bottle is just right since I don't recall finishing a regular sized bottle of nail polish ever. The picture below shows 3 coats of each color.
Barlust (deep shimmery brown); Hot Mess (sparkling fuchsia); Mars (shimmery emerald green); Gunmetal (shimmery deep grey),  Wrecked (deep burgundy), Ziggy (gold w/iridescent sparkle)

I decided to combine two of the colors from the kit and this is what I came up with. This is 2 coats of gunmetal and a coat of ziggy on top.

Now moving on to the 24/7 Shadow Pencil Stash. I had mentioned this on a recent post and said that this kit is on sale right now on their site for $12
(reg $34).
Delinquent (dark purple w/bright purple sparkle), Rehab (taupe), Juju (frosted taupe),  Sin (shimmering champagne), Clash (bright turquoise w/silver sparkle)

These pencils are highly pigmented and the staying power is just unbelievable. The application on the other hand is not as great. It's not bad by any means but it just doesn't glide as smoothly compared to other cream shadows. There is a very slight tug when you apply it directly on the lid but you can always warm the product up with your fingers before applying. I also find myself using these on my lower lash line a lot. I dont get any smudging and it saves me the trouble of having to put a liner and setting it with a shadow after.

Rehab (taupe), Juju (frosted taupe),  Sin (shimmering champagne), Clash (bright turquoise w/silver sparkle),  Delinquent (dark purple w/bright purple sparkle)

All in all I think these are two really good kits and are both worth the money. Pls. feel free to leave comments or ask questions. Thanks!

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Foundation Review

I have always been a big fan of the original Revlon Photoready Foundation and so when the airbrush version was released I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Luckily, I found it on sale at Target for $10 (reg. retail $11.99) and then I used a $2 manufacture coupon and a $2 Target coupon bringing it down to $6. This would have been an awesome price for a bottle of foundation but I found this product to be a big disappointment. First of all, I hated that you couldn't control the amount of product that you get with just one pump. As you can see on the picture below, it dispenses way too much product and you end up wasting a lot of it.

It first comes out as a fluffy mousse and when you start to work the product in it becomes very watery.

Now moving on to the coverage, this is definitely lighter than the original photoready. I prefer a full coverage foundation myself and this is more on light to medium.  I guess this would have been ok  on days when I don't feel like having a thick layer of makeup on my face but I just couldn't get over the SMELL. It has a strange odor that some people would probably not mind but I'm just not one of them. It's because of this that even if I don't like to waste anything, this is most likely going to end up in the trash. Sorry Revlon but this is a product FAIL for me!

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow Review, Swatches and Deal Scenario (only $2.83)

Maybelline has recently come out with a new line of cream eyeshadows called Color Tattoos. They come in 10 shades and retail for about $7. These shadows claim to be long-lasting and crease-proof. I was very skeptical at first since I have not tried a drugstore cream shadow that did not crease on my eyelids. I have very oily lids so even with a good eye primer, cream shadows will still crease on me an hour or so after application. I am a big fan of Benefit's creaseless cream shadows because it is exactly what its name suggests, "creaseless". The only problem I have with this product is the price. At $19 a pop, this is just way more than what I would like to pay for one jar of eyeshadow.  Ever since I started using it though, I've been on a hunt for a less expensive alternative and I have finally found it. These Color Tattoos are amazing. They are smooth, pigmented and yes, crease-proof.  I can't think of anything bad to say about this product except for the fact that 10 shades is not enough. They need to come out with more. So far I have 6 out of the 10. Here are the swatches.

Audacious Asphalt, Tough as Taupe, Bad to the Bronze, Pomegranate Punk, Painted Purple, Too Cool

Lastly, to get these shadows at the best price possible I have come up with this deal scenario. Starting Feb 19, 2012, Ulta will have their maybelline cosmetics on sale for buy 2 get 1 free.

-Buy 2 Maybelline color Tatoos at $6.99 each  for a total of $13.98 getting the third one for free
-Use 2 -  $1 Maybelline eyeshadow/eyeliner coupons (recently came out in the Sunday paper)
-Use $3.50 off $10 Ulta coupon
-Total: $8.48 for 3 or $2.83 each
